This is a remote position

Couchers.org is seeking speakers of the world's languages to translate our website and app, making Couchers feel native for everyone.

Duties

• Define conventions for your language's translations (e.g. level of formality, use of punctuation, use of genders, key terms, etc.)
• Translate new strings and update translations when strings change.
• Coordinate with other translators of your language to ensure consistency.
• Review and approve suggested translations from new translators.
• Use Couchers in your language to validate the quality of the translation as a whole.
• Report problematic or untranslatable strings and localization issues such as date/time formats.

Requirements

Your language level must be native or highly fluent.

Expectations/Commitment

This is a volunteer position (unpaid). Couchers.org is built and run entirely by volunteers.

Apply

1. Review our Translator Guide to learn about our translation tooling and conventions.

2. Create an account on our Weblate and start submitting translation suggestions. Can’t see your language? Use the report a problem button (technical problem) to request it.

3. Once you've reached 50+ suggestions (about 1-2 hours of work), fill out the volunteer application form. Under "Position Applying For", put "Translator - [your language]".

4. We'll review your application and get back to you as soon as possible to schedule a Zoom meeting and answer any questions.

5. After accepting the position, we'll add you to our Slack workspace and get you onboarded onto the translation team.
